Application



By mail, documents must be authenticated with the date of posting for the last day of the registration deadline. Registration by another person can be done only with a letter of attorney.

The candidates must hold a B.S. or B.A. degree. The candidates should have some knowledge in the research areas related to the program.



The graduate student must obtain the minimum credits related to the courses and other activities and will have to develop a research project (experimental or theoretical). The recommendation is at least 40 hours per week of dedication to the master’s course and preparation of the research project.



Yes, you can. However we emphasize that the graduate student must prepare a research project in the area of Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Pharmacy or Biology.



In the area of CHEMISTRY.



No. The student is not required to have an adviser to apply for admissions in the Program. However, enrollment in the course will only be accepted with a formal acceptance by an adviser.

The release date that informs if the candidate passed the admissions exam will be posted on the program’s website, according to the specific time of the selection examination contained in the Notice of Entry.



The registration dates are periodically published on the website. The documents required are:

  1. Application form completed and signed by the student, supervisor and program coordinator accompanied with identification - full name;
  2. Statement of course completion.
  3. Copies of official transcripts from all Post-Secondary Institutions attended.
  4. Birth or Marriage Certificate;
  5. Copy of CPF, ID, Voter Registration Form and Military Service Forms;
  6. Copies of the Lattes Curriculum Vitae pages. Be sure to include any publications you may have;
  7. Two 3 x 4 color photographs, and
  8. Adviser’s Acceptance Letter (Form M3).



The program coordinator will provisionally sign as adviser for a period of 30 days. After this period, the student must submit a final acceptance letter from the adviser, or your enrollment will be cancelled.



Fellowships

The Graduate Program in Sustainability Science and Technology has a quota of scholarships from CAPES (REUNI and Social Demand) for the Master’s course. The criterion used for the distribution of these grants is the student’s classification regarding the final score obtained in the Admissions Examination. The fellowship will only be awarded to students formally enrolled in the program, and who express interest in receiving an institutional grant in accordance with all regulations.

Other fellowships (FAPESP or others) depend on the adviser’s solicitation, in conjunction with the Graduate Program, and also the Funding Agency.

The graduates who receive scholarships from the aforementioned institutions shall perform their activities with the program full time. For further information on scholarships please visit the website of the Office for Graduate Studies and Research UNIFESP.

You must first talk to your adviser. Next, contact the coordination office with your request for cancellation or suspension. In case of cancellation, for a FAPESP grant, the coordination will issue a statement for the validity of the previous grant and the deadline to cancel the grant.



ABOUT REPORTS, COURSES, ENGLISH PROFICIENCY, AND QUALIFIYING EXAMINATION

The first step is the research project, when the graduate student is admitted. A few months later, according to the specific calendar published on the Program’s website, the student has to forward the research project. Six to eight months after forwarding the research project, according to his/her specific calendar published on the Program’s website, the student has to present a report stating his/her academic and research activities.



Each course has a specific schedule and duration. They are offered regularly but not necessarily every year. Consult the Program's website at the beginning of each semester to find out which courses will be offered.



Yes, the request must be submitted to the representative alumni student in the Graduate Commission, who will then forward the request to the Graduate Commission.



No. The student must obtain credits from only part of the core courses. The remaining credits have to be completed with other courses or other activities. The student’s adviser must approve any course taken by the student and both will sign the registration form for the course.

The graduate student must present the Qualifying Examination Report within 18 (eighteen) months after the enrollment date. The student must have passed the English Language Proficiency Test and obtained a minimum number of credits. A solicitation form has to be forwarded to the Evaluation Commission of the Graduate Commission.



The Qualifying Examination determines the students’ proficiency in their area of research, and their ability to understand and critically analyze scientific papers in their area of research.



ABOUT PAD

The Teaching Assistant Activities (PAD) Program aims to develop teaching skills in higher education, enabling the exposure of graduate students to activities in a selected undergraduate course.



The PAD program consists of two stages:

a) Phase I – Pedagogical Preparation: consists in offering a course that emphasizes teacher training.

b) Phase II - Supervised Teaching Internship: Developing teaching practices in an undergraduate course. This stage is undertaken after completing Phase I.



Phase I and Phase II are mandatory for CAPES fellowship grantees. Phase I is mandatory for all other students.



SPECIAL AND FOREIGN STUDENTS

At the moment we are not accepting the participation of special students in the Program.



The candidate must hold a B.S. /B.A. degree from an accredited institution. It is suggested that Applicants should have basic knowledge of the Portuguese Language. All applicants, including foreign students, will take the Regular Admissions Exam at the same time.
