A minimum of 30 credits are required before the Master’s Thesis defense, including lecture courses, seminars and attendance in scientific conferences. At least 20 credits must be obtained attending core courses from the Program, 5 credits must be obtained from general elective or core courses, and the remaining 5 credits from other activities.

Other activities are:

  1. Core courses from the Program.
  2. Institutional activities that award credits. Credits will be attributed according to the Office for Graduate Studies and Research for attendance in the UNIFESP Research and Graduate Symposium. The student must provide the certificate with a cover letter requesting the inclusion of such claims signed by him/her and by his/her adviser (Form C2).
  3. Attendance in conferences with the student’s certificate of participation (in his/her name) with the work presented orally or as poster. 1.5 credits will be awarded for oral presentation and 1 credit for poster presentation. The student must provide the certificate with a cover letter requesting the inclusion of such claims signed by him/her and by his/her adviser (Form C2).
  • Activities not considered for credits toward the degree: (a) participation in seminars and "schools" (b) field research work (c) attendance in conferences in which the student did not present work.
  • To solicit the equivalency of credits for courses attended outside the Program for Sustainability Science and Technology Program (UNIFESP) the student must forward the (C1 Form) and all requested documents, and if the certificate (containing score and frequency) and the content of the course are not included in the requests it will not be accepted. The credit equivalency request for courses taken outside the Program must be solicited up to 8 months before the 24 months stipulated for the course completion.
