Expected results

  • Better understanding metal neurotoxicity mechanisms and the role of these metals in the etiology of neurodegenerative diseases, ultimately leading to better identification of novel therapeutic approaches.
  • Generation of toxicological and biomedical information applicable to metal risk assessment, leading to the reduction of the socioeconomic and environmental costs of the exposure to metals.
  • Consolidation of an international network for Environmental Neurotoxicology cooperation that broadens the knowledge of participants (PI’s and students alike) and widens their interdisciplinary approach leading to better training of students.
  • Introduction a new international training program “Environmental Neurotoxicology” for undergraduate and graduate students and professionals aimed to stimulate international exchange and mobility of students and professionals.
